Version 1.5 of u-he’s filter plug-in trio Filterscape is now available. The version number is perhaps an understatement as it introduces enough new features and improvements to warrant at least a '2' before the period: A completely rewritten morphing EQ, new virtual analogue filter modes (FX and VA), a comfortable new GUI, u-he's new standard preset browser, native support for Apple silicon, VST3 and CLAP, and a lot more under the hood.
 
All 3 plug-ins feature the morphing EQ, but specialize in other ways…

Filterscape FX: 4 EQ bands with various modes, 4 envelope followers, 2 LFOs, 2

modulation sequencers, new analogue filter models and various routing algorithms.

Filterscape Q6: a 6-band version (2 shelves, 4 peak filters) which focusses on dynamics created with the 4 envelope followers.

Filterscape VA: a virtual analogue synthesizer with polyphonic (!) morphing EQ. The new version includes 6 extra wavetables and benefits greatly from the new analogue filter models. Also included is an arpeggiator/sequencer, chorus and delay effects.

Upgrading the inner workings

  • The new multiband EQ is based on an analogue model which has been optimized for rapid modulation, resulting in significantly improved audio quality when pushed to the limits.
  • The filter section has been expanded, introducing three new analogue filter models that offer beautifully smooth drive and resonance characteristics

Multi-band morphing EQ

Get surgical with the classic LS-Peak-Peak-HS mode or try your hand at the more exotic multi-bandpass modes. Either way, you can get up to 24 dB of cut and boost per band. EQ bands can be individually modulated at the snapshot level as well as globally.

Snapshot morphing

Smoothly transition between up to 8 different EQ settings: either manually, in auto-mode or using any of the available modulation sources. Automate these snapshots in your DAW to suit different sections of your track.

Multi-mode filters

2 parallel state-variable filters (lowpass, bandpass, highpass and notch) offer both legacy and novel analogue-modeled designs. The blender control lets you seamlessly fade between all 4 modes. It even lets you blur the boundaries between the modes as you fade into an allpass, which is great for phasing effects.

 

FilterscapeQ6

Filterscape Q6 features the same morphing EQ as in Filterscape FX, but with additional low and high shelving filters—hence the name Q6. The four envelope followers can react to different frequencies within the track and modulate just about anything. You can seamlessly automate the EQ settings using just one parameter: snapshot index. Q6 is an engineer's dream come true in a simple but sophisticated interface.

      Mac 64-bit, Intel / Apple Silicon: VST2, VST3, AU, CLAP, AAX

      Windows 32-bit: VST2, VST3

      Windows 64-bit: VST2, VST3, AAX, CLAP

      Linux 64-bit: VST2, VST3, CLAP

      New minimum requirements: The CPU needs to support SSE4.2 instruction set.

      For Linux, the minimum required glibc version is 2.28, otherwise plugins simply won’t appear.

      Note that OSX / macOS 32-bit support has been discontinued.

      The Windows installer has been improved to solve common installation issues. Please make sure that the update is installed in the same location as the previous version (if one exists), and that all used plugin formats are ticked so that they will be updated.
